An auditor will report to the shareholders that the financial statements show a true and fair view. This means that the accounts have been independently checked for material errors or omissions and to ensure that the presentation and calculation of the figures reported have prepared in accordance with the latest reporting requirements.

As a result of all the checks and balances involved, auditing is a much more detailed process than simply preparing the accounts, where an accountant will place more reliance on the accounting records that are presented to them. As such, banks and lenders will give more credence to a set of accounts that have been audited, even though the purpose of an audit is to report to the members only.

The GS Group was formed in May 2007 by Alun Griffiths and Petula Skinner.
 
Alun is a Chartered Accountant who originally trained with KPMG qualifying in 1997.  Since then he has worked in a variety of financial service providers and accountancy firms specialising in large Corporate transactions.  His hobbies are skydiving and flying.   
 
Petula has been working as a Company Administrator and Accounting Tutor for over 30 years and lectures on the Financial Service degree accounting modules at Highlands College.  Her main hobbies are kayaking and skiing.
